BBFW, the worldwide leading bridal fashion event, will acknowledge the work of international bridal and fashion designers focusing on core values of the event such as creativity, originality, quality, inspiration, art, innovation, sustainability and inclusivity. Twelve leading figures from the realms of art, culture and fashion will be tasked with selecting the candidates and deciding on the winners of the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards.
The awards ceremony will be presented by Spanish model Judit Mascó on the evening of April 22nd at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue. The winners will be selected for seven categories: Best Wedding Dress, Best Bridal Collection, Best Collection for the Groom, Best Collection of Evening and Evening Dresses, Best Campaign Image and the honorary New Talent and the Lifetime Achievement awards. The trophies are handmade in Valencia by Cual Estudio, in line with the event’s mission to showcase local artistry.
BBFW Director Albasarí Caro highlighted that “we want to reward creativity, art and innovation to give the greatest possible recognition and prominence to the excellent work done each day by both well-established designers and new talents. To do so, we’ll rely on the experience, sensitivity and knowledge of leading figures from the world of fashion and culture. This combination of experts will bring international prestige to the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards and reinforce our position of excellence in the industry”.
Renowned experts to choose the very best
A group of leading specialists will nominate 50 designers and brands from the bridal and fashion industry, for the respective categories, while two candidates will receive awards new talent and the lifetime achievement. The Professor, Curator and fashion Consultant Charo Mora will coordinate the nominating committee, which will include top fashion experts:
- Leticia García, Editor-in-chief of SModa (Spain)
- Manuel Outumuro, renowned award-winning fashion Photographer (Spain)
- Paula Varsalona, Designer and Professor Fashion Institute of Technology of New York (USA)
- Triana Alonso, Editor of the Fashion Network (France)
- María José Gonzálvez, Fashion Associate – Fashion Credits Manager Vogue Mexico (Mexico)
A judge panel drawing from different backgrounds within the bridal industry will subsequently choose the winners of each of the categories from among the nominees. The panel will include:
- Jen Campbell, Founder of Green Wedding Shoes (USA)
- Giovanni Sparacio, Editor-in-chief, Elle Sposa (Italy)
- Anna Frascisco, prestigious Wedding Planner (Italy)
- Elisa De Wyngaert, Curator of the MoMu Fashion Museum in Antwerp (Belgium)
- Haruhi Abe, Editor of 25ans & 25ansWedding (Japan)
- Albasarí Caro, Director of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week
The Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards will take place within the framework of the forthcoming Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, the world’s leading bridal fashion show organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Ministry of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia. It will be held at the Montjuïc venue and showcase the collections of major firms and new talents from all over the world. In addition to the catwalk, which will host 33 designer fashion catwalks between 19 and 22 April. The event will showcase the collections of over 300 firms, 75% of them international ones from 30 countries, in the tradeshow area, which, from 21 to 23 April, will connect exhibitors with buyers, thus promoting business and networking in the international sphere.
