Now in its 26th edition, the show has included the word “Fashion” for the first time in its name to reflect its mission to promote fashion and position the event as a driver of new trends. Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is a European benchmark in the bridal sector and the first event on the calendar of international trade shows. Brands will be presenting their creations for the coming season, making the event the global showcase for bridal and ceremonial designs. More than twenty internationally-renowned firms will be showing their creations on the catwalk, and over 250 will be displaying their 2017 collections in the trade fair area to buyers, the media and guests from all over the world.
Its international facet is one of the show’s mainstays; indeed, promotional initiatives have already been rolled out to attract major buyers, focusing mainly on Europe as the market with the highest business potential and on the USA for its dynamic economy and as one of the world’s epicentres of bridal trends. In this respect, the show expects to attract numerous buyers and guest designers from the United States and thus give a boost to trade flows between the US and Europe.
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week intends to consolidate itself as the international ‘prêt-à-couture’ platform for bridal fashion. According to the director of Novia d’Art and president of the show, Marta Raich: “Barcelona Bridal Week marks the starting point of the season; it’s a unique event that combines design and business, the place where firms from all over the world present their collections to an international audience. It’s also an opportunity to showcase our Made in Spain products which are a fusion of innovation and tradition, design and artisan craftsmanship, featuring fabrics and accessories of the very highest quality.”
A new director for the show
Ester Maria Laruccia is the new director of BBFW. After a long and distinguished career at Fira de Barcelona working on fashion events, Laruccia takes on her new role “with great enthusiasm, with the goal of following the show’s strategic line based on international firms and top quality products. At the moment we’re putting a special focus on Europe and the USA and later on we’ll be reinforcing our campaigns in new markets. Our goal is none other than to turn Barcelona into the global capital of bridal and ceremonial fashion, and we’ll achieve this not just because of the huge potential of our market but also thanks to the appeal of a city that shares all the values of the show: international, innovative, designer-driven, fashionable, creative and full of quality.”.
